Another booming weekend of community theatre

We have said it before and we are sure to say it many, many times in the future…our area is packed with so much talent, it boggles the mind.  This weekend is once again filled with chances to see much of that talent on stage yet again with three very intriguing shows to choose from at three different theatres.

  • Johnson City Community Theatre presents See How They Run, an English comedy by Phillip King.  Considered a farce for its tense comic situations and headlong humor, heavily playing on mistaken identity, doors, and vicars.  The show opens May 11 with performances at 8:00 p.m. on May 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, & 20 and a 2:00 p.m. performance on May 14.  Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online by clicking the website link above.
  • Jonesborough Repertory Theatre presents The Little Princess beginning May 12th.  Based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Little Princess tells a story of how one girl’s goodwill and courage show what being a princess truly means.  Performance times are Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays & Sundays at 2:00 p.m. May 12 through May 28.  Tickets are $16 or $14 and may be purchased by clicking the website link above.
  • Kingsport Theatre Guild will be presenting the final performances of Little Women this weekend.  Little Women is based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name written by Louisa May Alcott and tells the story of the coming of age of the four March sisters in Civil War New England.  Performances are Friday & Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  Tickets are $12, $10, or $8 and may be purchased by clicking the website link above.

We do hope you will take some time to get out to at least one of these amazing productions this weekend and maybe even next weekend as well.  Theatre is such a perfect way to escape the world around us for a few hours.  We highly recommend it!
