In recognition of 70 years of live theatre, the Kingsport Theatre Guild has put together a variety of shows spanning the full life of the organization for its 2017-2018 season. With a list that includes both straight plays and musicals, comedies and dramas, mature productions as well as children’s shows, KTG most definitely is poised to present a season filled with something for everyone.
In an article published by the Kingsport Times News (which you can read here) KTG Executive Director, Tina Radtke, says all of the shows in the new season are titles that have been performed by KTG at some point in the past and they will be using the organizations records to recognize the original casts for each production. It is also worth noting that KTG has also researched and found the first show ever performed by KTG, titled Yes and No and it will be performed as a one day fundraising event for the theatre.
The Mainstage, at the Renaissance Center, will feature Pinkalicious, Things My Mother Taught Me, Nanyehi, A Christmas Story, Winnie the Pooh, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Steel Magnolias. The KTG: Downtown series will have four productions this year to include: All I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Arsenic and Old Lace, Love Letters, and ‘night Mother.
A preview night of the upcoming season will be held on June 2 at 7:00 p.m. on the Mainstage at the Renaissance Center with excerpts of each show to be performed and a reception with refreshments to follow. For more information visit the KTG website!
